About Bucuti Tara - GMC Nature Preserve

Beyond restoring natural habitats, the Bucuti Tara – GMC Nature Preserve also functions as a carbon sink and educational hub, where reforestation strengthens Aruba’s climate resilience and enriches the ecosystem for native wildlife.
Once fully reforested, the preserve is expected to capture around 375 metric tons of CO₂ annually, contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment.
To maintain its serenity, motorized traffic is prohibited, allowing visitors to enjoy peaceful walks, bird-watching, and a quiet connection with nature.
No construction or development is permitted within the preserve, ensuring that the land remains untouched, authentic, and true to its natural state.
The preserve also serves as a center for learning and community engagement, where volunteers, local schools, universities, organizations, hospitality partners, visitors, and staff participate in tree-planting activities and environmental workshops. Everyone is invited to join these efforts—working together to protect and nurture this vital green space for generations to come.
Ban Lanta y Planta
Ban Lanta y Planta originated from the recognition that Aruba’s natural vegetation had become severely degraded, green spaces were rapidly disappearing, and there was an urgent call to action — to “rise up and plant,” as its name conveys.
This non-profit organization has a clear mission: to reforest Aruba and create thriving ecosystems where local flora, fauna, and people can coexist sustainably.
In 2022, the Bucuti Tara – GMC Nature Preserve began its reforestation journey in collaboration with Ban Lanta y Planta and dedicated volunteers, working together to restore native vegetation, strengthen soil health, and revive wildlife habitats across the preserve.
